“So may the words of my mouth, my meditation-thoughts,
and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing,
acceptable before your eyes,
my only Redeemer, my Protector-God.”

Psalms 19:14 (TPT) (https://my.bible.com/bible/1849/PSA.19.14)

I’ve always found Psalm 19 simply stunning. I guess it’s because it speaks a lot about words – or The Word, to be precise, and being a word-lover, it’s right up my alley. The Passion Translation has sub-headings in this particular Psalm. The first section is headed “God’s Story in the Skies”, which expounds the beauty in the sky and how it all resounds the glory of God (ie. tells His story). The second section is headed “God’s Story in the Scriptures”.

I have to admit that normally I quickly pass over these sub-headings without a second glance, but as I read this Psalm this morning, they seemed to jump out at me. In light of hearing of a few previously “prominent Christian leaders” who have recently, publicly claimed that they are “losing their faith”, stating that there are many “contradictions” in the Bible, this really hit home.

Verse 7 states “God’s Word is perfect in every way;” and verse 9 says “Every one of the Lord’s commands is right;”. I don’t know about you, but I have a strong belief that if God says it, I believe it and that settles it. I don’t have time or energy to debate the seeming “contradictions” that are stumbling blocks to others, nor do I have the knowledge, understanding, wisdom and expertise to engage in such conversations.

So coming back to the first verse I quoted above – verse 14 reminds us to keep our words, thoughts and heart convictions in line with God and His Word. This was a beautiful reminder to me to not get caught up in what others think and believe, but to keep my eyes, my heart, my mind and my mouth reflecting Him.

I have a conviction, an unwavering belief, that God’s Word is true and right and just and that is enough for me – He is enough for me! What about you?
